Working on a new sculpture…
I will turn “Miksang” into a sculpture…

Katharography

I’ll be spending most of the summer at Emily Carr U. turning Miksang, one of my Katharographies, into a steel sculpture.
The images in the video below show Ian Rhodes, the master at the metal shop, showing the different machines. Can you guess where he originated?

My last sculpture is Pink Tree, a steel structure, five meters tall -check it here. This new piece will be much smaller, about a meter. I’m so looking forward to banging, bending and welding the metal and not being behind the computer screen for a change… Welding is liberating, it produces a Zen feeling, one forgets the large world to concentrate in the tiny shining, gliding beads produced by the torch… It is so exhilarating!
