What inspires you?

I have been wondering where inspiration comes from. Guess it can come at any time, and from any where. To me, inspiration is something unexpected, surprising and, at times extraordinary, which expands my consciousness towards the creation of something I had not even thought about. A person, a thing, or an idea can be inspirational.  This week, while attending a lecture on humanism, the presenter showed the illustration below, the ‘March of Progress’ (1965)

In no time, my mind wandered to what I think we are becoming. I saw the continuation of the march illustration in which the human body would start shrinking to end up as the first figure on the left.  The ‘new’ humans would have a larger head (with a larger brain?), larger fingers, shorter legs, and would bent forward… Are we going in reverse? Are we closing a cycle? I hope we are still advancing, but I tend to be on the pessimistic side…. How do you get inspired? Have you had any aha-inspiration moments which have produced great results?
