Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Islamic Art

If you happen to be in Texas this week, it would be lovely if you could go to the inauguration this Saturday, Sept 17, of the Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Islamic Art where my piece Aliya  is on display.

I have always been attracted to Islamic art as you can see from my artwork, so it’s thrilling to be part of this exhibition. The Art Director of the Islamic Art Revival Series, Shafaq Ahmad, has put together an ambitious program full of activities on Islamic culture, art, literature and architecture. This is a great opportunity to learn or refresh your knowledge of this ancient culture.

A photograph from my ‘Aqua’ series will be on display in this exhibition curated by Richard McCabe, from the Ogden Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. This will be the first time I exhibit any work from this series which I started eight years ago in Saint Marten. Hamidah Glasgow, the director of the Center will do a Portfolio Review. I’m looking forward to being there!

 

 

 

 

 

I’m absolutely ecstatic to have been invited to participate in two new art shows! Yay! They came out of the blue which makes me even more joyous.

Kabuni House… 

The first exhibition is here in Vancouver. I will be one of two featured artists at Kabuni House the new kid in the local art world. I highly recommend you check them out. They are not just an art gallery, Kabuni is an online and local community of interior designers, makers and clients. This exhibition will run from November 1 to December 2.

Aqua Art Miami…
Then, on November 30 to December 4, I will have work at Aqua Art Miami as part of a collective assembled specifically for this event by curator L Jill Johns, from Phylogeny Contemporary. How neat is this! This will be a really great way to close the year! If you happen to be in Miami during the art fair, drop by!
