Cross Pollination – Angelica Montero
I guess in your profession there are people you admire, you’d like to emulate, to learn from, or share with others what they do. They are a source of inspiration. That happens to me all the time. I’m very lucky to know, be friends with, or simply cross paths with interesting, brilliant artists. There’s always this or that technique, an expertise or skill that I had not even thought about, a way of seeing things differently… It is an enriching pollination…
From now on, I will share with you my encounters with one of these talented artists. I would like to start with a dear friend, Angelica Montero, a painter who has been for a long time, quietly but steadily carving her artistic path. She utilizes mostly palette knives instead of brushes, and has developed a layering technique which results in rich, vivid paintings. Lots of Vancouver homes are decorated with her unique landscapes. Now and until November 4, lawyers, judges and anybody having to be in the Law Courts downtown Vancouver, will have the opportunity to admire -and acquire- her latest works. This solo show is organized by
Angelica’s inspiration comes from nature but frequently from the world of high-end fashion design where esthetics reign. Coco Chanel and Alexander McQueen are her muses. She dislikes conformism and, while focused on her artistic career, her mind is also glancing at art to wear. You can see her recent work at angelicamontero.com and Art Rental Catalogue .Let me know what you think.
