The circus is here!
The P. T. Barnum-type of language full of hyperbole and superlatives is becoming our daily dose… This made me think of describing one of my artworks in this jargon. Here it is:
North Shore Panorama
Altered Photography
Triptych
2017
This masterful altered photograph has quickly become an indispensable iconic marker and attestation to the dazzling land surrounding the city of Vancouver but mostly, to the skilful and exquisite perception of the talented artist/photographer Carolina de la Cajiga who visualized and composed the magnificent scene. Spanning over thirteen feet across and reaching almost three feet in height, the monumental canvas forcefully takes the viewer’s eyes and mind across the dynamic harbour seamlessly and harmoniously. It is an alluring invocation which brilliantly articulates the vast economic relevance of Burrard Inlet while exalting the natural beauty and importance of the basin. The spectator is immediately pulled by the utterly mesmerising force of the artwork.
The evocative work was conceived in early 2016 but the execution was slow due to the complexity of the hefty shoot. The resulting striking panorama, full of vigour and spontaneity, is a testament to the fortitude and indomitable determination of the artist. Definitely, North Shore Panorama is a remarkable, universal oeuvre of personal significance to its exceptional creator, De la Cajiga, and to the city of Vancouver.
Hey, after reading this, I unquestionably feel the urge to see with my own eyes this masterpiece, to experience the pull described and, most of all, to meet this impressive artist who happens to live in our own town! Wouldn’t you?
